Abingdon Wine Estate

Located on the Curry's Post / Lions River Road on the Midlands Meander, Abingdon is a unique pioneering estate that has positioned itself as a serious single-vineyard boutique wine producer in KZN.

The farm was bought in 2000 by owners, Ian and Jane Smorthwaite, and the first vines were planted in 2004. Situated at 1140m above sea level, the Estate has 3ha under vine and produces certified single vineyard Estate wines from 100% KZN grapes.

Abingdon Estate's wine is only available at a few outlets, hotels and restaurants for resale. The estate has produced 20 wines since its first harvest in 2007.

Visitors to Abingdon rave about their visits - the wine, the food available and atmosphere. The estate is open to visitors on weekends and public holidays for wine tastings and lunch. Tastings run throughout the day between 10am and 4pm, offering a personalised introduction to the wines.
