June 2019 - The CMH Group and its wholly owned subsidiary, First Car Rental, are committed to Black Economic Empowerment and constantly invest in the development and training of young Black and African employees. To ensure continued implementation of positive change, Nkanyezi Khowa has been appointed Executive Head: HR & Transformation.

What is Transformation? – Nkanyezi Explains

"Transformation is a fundamental business imperative at CMH. The CMH Group has an Employment Equity Plan ("EE Plan"), which seeks to achieve employment equity through entry level, middle management and senior management training development programmes, which are biased towards upskilling suitably-qualified African employees.

The EE Plan further seeks to achieve employment equity, through giving preference to suitably qualified Africans in recruitment and promotion."

Employment Equity

As a result of the focus on transformation, at CMH Group level, 75% of the workforce is Black and 51% African.

Over the last 12-months, African senior management has increased by 4% and 5 of the 6 Top Management appointments were filled with Black employees.

One of the appointments is an individual who began his career with the CMH Group as a cleaner and has worked his way up the ranks to Dealer Principal.

At First Car Rental level, 84% of the workforce is Black and 69% African. Over the past 8-months, 86% of new engagements have been African.
