First Car Rental Partners with WILDTRUST to Drive Conservation

Who is WILDTRUST?

Founded in 2004, WILDTRUST  has become a driving force in South African conservation. Their vision is clear: a thriving and resilient world where people and nature can flourish together.

WILDTRUST works through two key programmes:

• WILDLANDS focuses on land-based conservation. This includes restoring degraded landscapes, protecting endangered species, and empowering local communities through green jobs and sustainable livelihood projects.
• WILDOCEANS is dedicated to marine and coastal ecosystems. Their teams are involved in creating marine protected areas, restoring ocean habitats, and supporting coastal communities that depend on healthy oceans for their survival.

Beyond on-the-ground projects, both programmes invest in research, policy advocacy and training future leaders in conservation. It is an approach that connects people, planet and long-term sustainability.

Why Mobility Matters

Much of WILDTRUST’s work happens in remote and challenging environments, from inland conservation areas to rugged coastlines. To support their efforts, First Car Rental has provided a 4x4 Landtrek Active MT, co-branded with First Car Rental and WILDTRUST.

The vehicle gives WILDTRUST teams the mobility to:

• Access restoration and conservation sites across South Africa
• Transport equipment and resources needed for fieldwork
• Support community development programmes linked to conservation
• Strengthen their presence in both land-based and marine initiatives

It is a practical contribution, ensuring that dedicated conservation teams can reach the places where their work has the greatest impact.
