January 2019 - Corporate frequent flyers can now complete the car hire check-out process within a record time of 18 seconds on account, and leisure travellers in as little as 48 seconds on credit card when utilising the online prepaid pre-auth capability in conjuction with the new Self-Service stations rolled out at major First Car Rental airport locations throughout South Africa. The remainder of its 52 branches will be live by te end of this quarter.
First Car Rental, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the JSE-listed vehicle retail group, Combined Motor Holdings (CMH), have put into operation fast and convenient Self-Service touch-screen monitors as part of the company's ongoing commitment to providing superior customer service and technology.
Currently, First's Self-Service terminals have dual-screen monitors assisting newcomers to the system, enabling branch staff members to intervene or just be there for moral support but, since the soft launch in August last year, statistics reveal that First's renters are very tech savvy and engage effortlessly with the touchscreen technology.
A national operations manager for a well-known construction company based in Cape Town recently said that his company had moved their corporate car rental account to First Car Rental because of their advanced Self-Service product and the massive benefits this service offers them. "I fly every week. It's quick, far less stressful for me and improves my company's ability to guarantee appointment times with my own customers."
These new Self-Service stations enable renters to review rental information, change their vehicle type, add additional drivers, and purchase optional extras like glass and tyre waivers, GPS navigation units and child car seats, but more importantly, all of this is electronic.
