FlySafair Scores the Springboks
FlySafair appointed official domestic carrier for the Springboks and SA Rugby
MAY 2017 - The South African Rugby Union (SARU) has announced that award-winning, low-cost carrier and First Car Rental's exclusive flight partner, FlySafair, has been appointed the official domestic carrier for the Springboks and SA Rugby.
This new deal will see FlySafair cater to the domestic travel needs of the Springboks and SA Rugby for the next three years, replacing the deal that SA Rugby had with SAA.
As the official domestic carrier, FlySafair will be tasked with providing the national team and SA Rugby officials with seamless travel, ensuring they get to their games on time, a task FlySafair can achieve given its ranking as the most punctual airline in South Africa, according to statistics published by the Airport Company of South Africa (ACSA).
FlySafair is rated the most punctual airline in the world by OAG, the leading global provider of digital flight information. FlySafair received a 95.94% on-time performance (OTP) rating, and is one of only three 5-star-rated airlines.
Says Elmar Conradie, FlySafair CEO, "It's absolutely humbling to think that less than two and a half years ago, we were a small airline with two aircraft operating between Johannesburg and Cape Town. Here we are today with a fleet of nine aircraft, servicing the largest domestic route network of all low-cost carriers, and receiving the honour of being entrusted with the air travel of one of our national treasures, the Springbok Rugby Team."
The official announcement of this new deal took place at the OR Tambo International Airport where a FlySafair Boeing 737-800 was unveiled, bearing the Springbok logo.
This new partnership will draw on the synergy of two well-established organisations seeking to inspire South Africa.
