Lee-Anne Pace heads strong field

First Car Rental Brand Ambassador and leading SA golfer, Lee-Anne Pace, will lead a strong field going into the 2014 Cell C SA Women's Open.

The Cell C SA Women's Open takes place at the San Lameer Country Club, KwaZulu-Natal, from 16 - 19 October 2014.

First Car Rental's brand ambassador, Lee-Anne-Pace, will be determined to add the SA Women's Open crown to her impressive list of achievements

Lee-Anne will be determined to add the SA Open title to her growing list of achievements, including being voted by Compleat Golfer magazine as the 2013 Golfer of the Year - the first time in South African golf history that the award has been given to a women.

2013 was an outstanding year for Lee-Anne, seeing her secure three victories on the Ladies European Tour in 2013 as well as her second-place finish on the tour's ISPS HANDA Order of Merit and being voted the LET Players' Player of the Year.

Honouring great sportswomen

She was also named the Women's Professional Golf Association's (WPGA) Player of the Year, won the Investec Ladies Cup in early 2014, and has been selected to play on the prestigious LPGA Tour in the United States.

American Cheyenne Woods and the SA Women's Open defending champion, Marianne Skarpnord of Norway, have both confirmed they will also be competing in South Africa's premier women's professional tournament, which is co-sanctioned by the WPGA of South Africa and the Ladies European Tour (LET).

In 2014, First Car Rental will again play a major role in the SA Women's Open as the official transport sponsor following on from 2013's success.

Last year, First Car Rental sponsored 5 mini-busses and vehicles over the three days of the tournament that were used to transport players and officials.


The SA Women's Open is the country's oldest women's professional golf tournament.

This is the first time that the 72-hole tournament will be hosted at San Lameer on the KwaZulu-Natal South Coast.

The club has embarked on extensive renovations of the clubhouse, and as part of the Cell C South African Women's Open's vision to keep improving the golf infrastructure on the Hibiscus Coast.

“It's an honour for us to host such a historic tournament and be part of the resurgence of women's professional golf in South Africa. This is such an exciting time for the women's game, and we consider it a major coup to be the home of the flagship event of the South African women's game,” said Pine Pienaar, Managing Director of San Lameer Estate.
