| WET NOSE – A ‘RIGHT TO LIVE’ ANIMAL SHELTER |
|
First Car Rental Hands Keys Over to Wet Nose - a ‘Right to Life’ Animal Shelter
Johannesburg, June 2009 - On 20th May 2009, First Car Rental handed over the keys to a 2007 Nissan Hardbody with canopy to Tracy Forte of Wet Nose, a ‘right to life’ organisation that is involved in the rehabilitation of abandoned, neglected and abused animals. Wet Nose is based between Pretoria and Bronkhorstspruit.
Says Melissa Storey, First Car Rental Executive Head of Strategy, Development and Marketing, “Wet Nose and its policy to ‘a right to life’ is very close to all our hearts at First Car Rental. We are delighted to be able to help Tracy, her team and all the animals with the gift of a bakkie in which animals can be transported safely.
Many of our partners and suppliers such as 1st Friday parties, Firestring, Hot Salsa Media and Graffiti, have joined us in this project and have given their services and materials at no cost or have held Wet Nose fundraising events.
Graffiti are in the process of fully brand wrapping the bakkie in support of our corporate responsibility project. We are dedicated to this non-profit organisation, and the animals, and have |
 |
other Wet Nose projects in line that we will be assisting with as much as we can. Watch this space”.
Tracy Forte founded Wet Nose in April 1999. It started with a dream to ensure that healthy animals get a second chance in life, making sure that they receive love and care whilst waiting for their new homes.
Says Forte, “This bakkie was something we desperately needed for animal transport, including pulling horse boxes, carrying food and many other uses. We are now better able to serve our animals in many ways. It is great to have supporters like the First Car Rental team.
 |
First Car Rental has managed to mobilise numerous individuals and corporates to support Wet Nose in various ways and we look forward to a long and wonderful relationship with them all”.
The Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre is dependent on the animal-loving public for funds. Their motto is “Don’t breed or buy, while homeless animals die!”
The largest financial layout the Centre has is the feed for all the animals and sterilising every animal that comes in. At any given time there are at least 180 dogs, 85 cats, and several horses at the centre and each animal is fed twice a day. |
Additional Information:
You can also assist Wet Nose by sponsoring an animal in a kennel monthly at a donation of R150.00 per month. Should you wish to help save an animal, you may contact Wet Nose and the relevant forms will be sent to you. The Wet Nose Animal Rescue Centre is PBO registered and is audited yearly by MM Kruger and Associates. For more information on Wet Nose, go to www.wetnose.org.za or call 013 932 3941 |
