First Car Rental is the "first" car rental business at the Cape Town International Airport currently built and ready for business. Work on Cape Town International Airport's R1.6 billion, five-storey central terminal building has been completed and both international and domestic passengers now use the new consolidated check-in area.

The new terminal significantly enhances the airport's capacity with 120 check-in counters, 20 self-service check-in machines and a consolidated security screening point, all housed in an area of  50 000m²

According to Airports Company South Africa (ACSA), the link between the International Terminal and the Central Terminal Building (CTB) routes airport users to the ground floor of the CTB, allowing them access to more retail and restaurant options and facilitating them to the Transport Plaza and the Central Car Rental facility both scheduled to be opened by the end of March.

Not only have the check-in facilities been enhanced, but the retail facility has almost doubled, moving from 44 retailers and restaurants to 74.

The expansion brings in brands such as Ocean Basket, Woolworths, Steers and a Spur, boasting a combined seating capacity of up to 500 people.
